Guide for pharmacies in Egypt

Electronic Invoices for Pharmacies in Egypt

An e-invoice does not mean the counter stops when the internet is weak. The receipt is stored locally and sent to the tax authority when the connection allows.

An electronic invoice for a pharmacy is the sale or return receipt sent to the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) from the same system that made the sale. In PharmaSync the feature is Egyptian ETA, and it stays off until you turn it on. Daily checkout continues either way.

When the receipt is sent

You choose one path. After each order fits a stable connection: the receipt goes out when the sale is confirmed. End of the day fits an unstable line: receipts stay for the daily tax return screen and you send them from there.

If an older receipt is still unsent, a new one is left for that same review. A delivery invoice is also left for the end of the day. A contract invoice is not sent with each order.

What to prepare before production

  • Start on pre-production. Move to production after this POS is registered on the invoicing portal
  • Tax registration, trade name, and branch address from the taxpayer file — typed in ETA settings, not copied from the general pharmacy screen
  • POS credentials, POS serial, and the certificate from the Windows store
  • Item code: GS1 from the pack barcode, or an EGS registration when the product has no GS1

An 8-digit GPC brick is required before you register a product that has no GS1 barcode. An EGS code is sent only after its status is Approved. While a request is still pending, a product that also has GS1 can be sent as GS1.

The daily review and returns

The daily tax return screen appears after ETA is enabled. It lists sale and return receipts that are still unissued in the range you pick. Sending runs from the oldest downward. A return whose original sale is not yet valid on the authority stays visible and cannot be selected until that sale is sent and accepted.

Each send asks for the certificate PIN for that send only and does not save it. If one receipt stops the chain, the rest of that send is not sent until you fix the cause and resume.

Printing at confirmation does not wait for the authority. After the receipt is valid, reprinting from the sales list places the authority QR under the receipt barcode. The company receipt does not get that QR.

Does PharmaSync send e-invoices to the Egyptian Tax Authority?

Yes, after you enable it. It sends sale and return receipts to ETA, either after each order or from the end-of-day review.

Can I test before production?

Yes. Settings start on pre-production until the POS is registered, then you switch to production.

What if a product has no GS1 barcode?

Register an EGS code from the group barcode. It is sent on a receipt only after the authority approves it.
